The KW V3 coilover suspension, which can be manually adjusted independently in compression and rebound, is available from KW automotive with a parts certificate for the Polestar 2. The coilover suspension kit enables stepless lowering up to 45 millimeters on both axles of the electric car. The KW V3 is currently only available for the Polestar 2 models with all-wheel drive.
With its design and technology, the KW V3 coilover suspension ensures harmonic ride and sporty handling in the Polestar 2. The entire setup of the KW V3 has been optimized for the two-ton heavy Polestar 2. Therefore, the KW V3 coilover suspension with its dampers built according to the twin-tube principle with multi-valve technology properly absorbs the typical transverse joints.
One of the highlights of the KW V3 suspension is that even after the suspension has been installed, the damper adjustment can be manually readjusted at any time. This allows drivers to independently adjust the compression and rebound damping in just a few simple steps. The purple compression dials on the lower damper housing are used to tune the compression damping in twelve clicks. This allows Polestar 2 drivers to influence the body's pitching and rolling movements.
The KW V3 coilover suspension, which is currently available exclusively for the Polestar 2 all-wheel drive, allows stepless lowering of both axles by 25 - 45 millimetres. After installation, and even with a maximum lowering of 45 millimeters, it ensures increased steering precision, straight line stability, road-holding and roll comfort.
To further adjust the rebound damping manually, simply insert a purple plug-in wheel to the piston rod of the KW V3 coilover suspension. This allows the already preset suspension setup to be further individually adjusted in terms of handling and roll comfort. Simply put, the rebound damping has the task of connecting the car body to the road, while the compression damping influences the compression and supports the entire body of the chassis.
The stainless steel struts and damper housings of the KW V3 coilover suspension are in-house manufactured at KW in Fichtenberg. Depending on the driving style, retrofitting a KW V3 coilover suspension can also increase the range of an electric car. A road test with a rear-wheel driven Tesla Model 3 equipped with a standard wheel-tire combination resulted in a range increase of seven percent.
